This loose-jawed Las Cruces bit, inlaid and overlaid with sterling silver, is made of polished and blued steel. The modified frog mouthpiece includes copper and steel surfaces with copper inlays. The rein chains are constructed of baling wire links welded in 180 different places. Dahl fabricated the custom stand from a sagebrush limb rising from a piece of an old cedar post.

The bit features multiple levels of steel and silver on the cheek pieces and slobber bar separately fabricated, filigreed, engraved and welded into place. Dahl then added fine, detailed engraving.
