This Texas-made Santa Barbara-style spade bit has high relief engraving in the steel and inlaid 24K gold and silver. Wilson Capron hand-forged the spade mouthpiece out of one piece of metal while the shanks were connected in a traditional method called wrap around. In this way, the bit combines blacksmithing methods of the past with the elaborate steel engraving of today.

Each shank of the bit has inlaid 24K gold roses sitting on a cushion of inlaid fine silver leaves, complemented by sterling silver beads along the boundaries.
