This is the second Mother Hubbard-style saddle ever made by Chuck Stormes. The first was in 1964. Saddlers in the West have used the term “Mother Hubbard” since the 19th century in reference to saddles that have a large, square, one-piece covering of leather over the seat and rigging. Stormes’ 2009 version of this historic style features elaborate mixed floral carving with a dyed background. The saddle silver was fabricated and engraved by John C. Ennis.

The meticulously hand-engraved sterling silver mountings by John C. Ennis are also historic--they represent the first saddle silver he has produced. He also created a TCAA logo in gold overlay to adorn the cantle concha.
