SALES & PURCHASING INFORMATION
The 2011 Small Works, Great Wonders Winter Art Sale will open Friday, November
18, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Each
person purchasing a ticket for the sale will receive a ballot book containing
one ballot for each work of art.
The purchaser has from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. to drop his/her signed ballot
in the box by the works he/she wishes to purchase. At 7:00 P.M. a salesperson
will draw two names and post them on a large card near each work of art. The
first name posted will have 20 minutes to reach the salesperson and pick up
their bill-of-sale to confirm their purchase.
ONLY THE PERSON WHOSE NAME IS ON THE BALLOT CAN PURCHASE THE PIECE.
Once the sale is confirmed, the seller will write “SOLD” on the card.
If the first individual does not claim the item within the initial 20 minutes,
or if the sale is declared invalid, the second name will be eligible to purchase
the item for the next 20 minutes. At 7:40 P.M. unsold works will be available
to purchase on a first-come, first-served basis.
Payment in full must be made on the night of the sale. The National Cowboy Museum will accept cash, personal checks and the following credit cards: VISA, MasterCard, American Express or Discover. Checks are to be made payable to the National Cowboy Museum. State and local sales tax will be added to the purchase price when applicable. Purchasers can expect a museum surcharge that totals three percent of the purchase price per work of art. The maximum museum surcharge has been set at $300 for any work selling for $10,000 or higher. The Museum Board of Directors has implemented the fee to cover extensive handling of works that makes the exhibitions possible. Any tax exemption must be verified.
Purchasers are encouraged to take their artwork with them at the close of the event on November 18th. However, shipping arrangements can be made at the time of payment.
