Years in Exhibition:
Born in Ottumwa, Iowa, Tim Solliday resides in southern California in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. Inspired early on by his artist father, Solliday won his first art competition at the age of 14, which provided the confidence and resolve to choose art as his life’s work.
As an adult, he discovered and studied with noted painter T. N. Lukits at the Lukits Academy of Fine Art. Here Solliday honed his exceptional skills and solidified his goal of capturing beauty on canvas in the plein air style. He creates powerful images through the use of bold brushwork, natural light and a lighter, highly colorful palette.
Today, Solliday is best known for painting landscapes, figures and narratives. He has participated in the Laguna Beach Plein Air Invitational from its inception. He is a Signature Member of the California Art Club.
