Welcome to the 2013 Prix
de West online catalog. Prix de West is 40! What started as “NAWA” (National
Academy of Western Art) in 1973 has evolved, becoming a premier fine art show.
The public is invited to celebrate fine art during the Prix de West 40th Anniversary,
June 7-8, 2013. No formal invitation is needed, but reservations
are required for most opening weekend activities. Prix de West is regarded as
a special weekend in the art world. It is that and more—stretching into a two
month exhibition and the world’s premier Western art sale. Clearly, this is
an event living up to its French title meaning “best of the West.”
The Prix de West is a career booster for participating artists, a memory-making experience for
collectors and the largest annual fundraiser for the Museum, which operates without tax-based
support and depends on private, corporate and foundation contributions. Perhaps you have attended
every one of these events in the Museum’s history or you’ve heard about it and always dreamed of
coming. The welcome mat is out for you to participate in this 40th anniversary Prix de West, North
America’s top Western art happening!
