Rawhide
Braiding Workshop: Bosals
February 14-17, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
In cooperation with the Traditional Cowboy Arts Association,
the Museum presents a workshop featuring TCAA rawhide braiders
Leland Hensley and Nate Wald. Designed for beginning to intermediate
skill levels, the workshop will cover the function, construction
and details of braiding bosals.

Basket
Weaving Workshop
February 18, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Marcia Balleweg with Oklahoma Basket Weavers Guild will teach
an adult basket weaving class. Learn about basketry and create
a solid bottom twill tote basket from start to finish. Twining,
twill weaving, double X lashing, and a carved oak handle complete
the basket. Participants will have the opportunity to view the
exhibit "The Sun and His Wife" and see examples of
other types of weaving.
Skill level: Beginner

Academy
of Western Art Workshop-Sculpture: The Devil is in the Details
June 4-7, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Working from live models and other reference material, the focus
of this workshop will be the portrait or character bust. Good
anatomic structure will be stressed. Just as important is the
process of editing including the use of lost and found lines,
hard and soft edges, and dark and light values on various surface
textures. Students will come away with a better understanding
of what brings life to their sculptures as opposed to creating
a mere replica.

Academy
of Western Art Workshop-Working from Life with Charcoals and
Oils
June 11-14, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Students will begin the workshop working in charcoals then gradually
progress into oils. By the end of class students will have a
better understanding of how to paint from life and to capture
the emotion in the art they are creating. Demonstrations and
constructive critiques will be utilized. Workshop is geared
toward individuals who want to make a career out of drawing
and painting.
