The Annie Oakley Society gathers annually to celebrate women who demonstrate leadership and the entrepreneurial spirit of the Great American West. The Society has raised nearly $2 million to date. All proceeds from The Annie Oakley Society are directed to children and family programming at the Museum.

Academy of Western Art Workshop—Drawing and Composition from Imagination

This instructional class will focus on the importance of drawing with an emphasis on the figure and horses. The art of memory drawing and memorizing form will be addressed. One-on-one instruction, student critiques and a presentation on oil painting techniques and methods is included. This is an ideal class for upper level high school students or those wanting to improve on their drawing skills. Instructor: Prix de West Artist William Whitaker. Working from live models and other reference materials, the focus of this workshop is to expose the student to traditional portrait techniques of sculptors from Rodin to present day. Correct anatomical structure and an emphasis on bringing emotion, personality and a lifelike feel to the portrait will be stressed. Instructor: Prix de West Artist Paul Moore. Cowboy Artists of America 47th Annual Exhibition and Sale Award Winners

Cowboy Artists of America award winners were announced at the Cowboy Crossings Banquet, Saturday evening, October 13, 2012, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

Some works from both the Cowboy Artists of America and the Traditional Cowboy Artists of America remain available for purchase.
